A VILLAGE official was killed by unidentified gunmen Tuesday afternoon (February 20) in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte, while painting his motorboat.
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the victim as Hamza Diaz, 65, a councilor in the village of Balagunan, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.
Galvez said the incident happened around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in Sitio Marang-Marang in the village of Sta. Maria, Siocon town.
Diaz said the gunmen repeatedly shot the victim. He suffered five gunshot wounds, resulting in his death.
Police recovered three empty shells of caliber .45 pistol and one empty shell of caliber .9mm pistol from the crime scene.
All possible motives are being looked into that could lead to the arrest of the suspects, Galvez said. (SunStar Philippines)
