HEALTH workers wade the seawaters as they penetrated the houses on stilts in the health district of Mercedes, Zamboanga City over the weekend to immunize children against vaccine preventable diseases.

The City Health Office said in a statement Sunday, May 20, said that 60 children were immunized at Sitio Bagtuk in Talabaan village, Zamboanga City.

“Our dedicated health workers continuously demonstrate their commitment to public service and perseverance in the face of adversities,” the City Health Office said.

The health workers assigned in Mercedes District penetrated the houses on stilts in Bagtuk, Talabaan village on a weekend just to ensure that children zero to 59 months old get the needed measles rubella (MR) and oral polio vaccines (OPV) as they implement the MR-OPV Supplemental Immunization Activity.

The City Health Office has reported a 65 percent accomplishment, as health workers continue to adopt different strategies to reach out target population. (SunStar Zamboanga)
