MAJOR General Roy Galido, commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), introduced to the troops of the 11th Infantry Division (ID) his "3Rs" policy and emphasized the importance of discipline and work-life balance.
This, as Galido visited the headquarters of the Camp Bautista that houses the 11ID headquarters in Jolo, Sulu on Sunday, January 22.
It was Galido's first command visit since he assumed as the commander of Westmincom on Friday, January 20.
In his talk to the 11ID troops, Galido said the "3Rs" for a better nation stands for reliability, responsiveness, and relevance.
"Reliability will be anchored on our ability to prepare and anticipate security implications of any event or situation either natural or man-made. Responsiveness will be the key output of our reliability, and this is where constant planning and simulations of scenarios with security implications must be done, with this our response will always be positive," Galido said.
"Relevance is what I must emphasize and most importantly be understood if our stakeholders do not appreciate the way we perform our missions, we are irrelevant, thus, we can be considered a wasted investment of the government and people, to avoid this, we must constantly communicate and coordinate our plans and much better if we could integrate with the plans of our stakeholders to build a better nation...this for me is pagkakaisa (unity)," he said.
He also emphasized the importance of discipline and work-life balance.
"Maintaining a high level of morale is essential in the accomplishment of our mission, hence, we must ensure that we are always inspired to do our job well," he added.
After his visit to the 11ID headquarters, Galido paid a courtesy call to Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan at the provincial Capitol.
The two discussed about the good relationship between the military and the local government officials of Sulu.
Tan assured the new commander of Westmincom of his continued support of the Westmincom's endeavors particularly in sustaining the peace in the province.
Galido also assured of the military's steadfast resolve to eliminate all the remaining threats in Sulu.
He also met with Commission on Elections Chairperson George Erwin Garcia who was coincidentally in Sulu on the same day.
They met at the Provincial Election office at the provincial capitol complex. Other Comelec officials were also present during the meeting.
They talked about the low turnout of voter registration for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
Galido said the military units in Sulu will help to convince the populace to practice their right to suffrage and assure the public of their safety. (SunStar Zamboanga)
