PCG builds new complex facility in Zamboanga City

THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is building a new complex facility to house the headquarters of the Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CGDSWM) and the other operational control units of the district in Zamboanga City.

The new complex facility will be built in a 1.38-hectare area inside the Zamboanga Special Economic Zone and Freeport (ZamboEcozone) in Sitio San Ramon, Talisayan village, west of Zamboanga City.

Vice Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, PCG deputy commandant for administration; Commodore Marco Antonio Gines, CGDSWM commander; and ZamboEcozone Chairperson and Administrator Raul Regondola, who is a PCG Auxiliary with the rank of commodore, led the groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, August 19.

The new complex facility will have a wharf, swimming pool, firing range, special operations obstacles, grandstand and modern command center.

Gavan said that through a special arrangement, the PCG was granted 1.38 hectares for the headquarters, five hectares for the Regional Training Center, and another five for the operation control facilities.

The groundbreaking ceremony was witnessed by former mayor and first ZamboEcozone Chairperson Manuel Dalipe, PCG, military and police as well as government officials and a representative of the construction firm that will build the facility. (SunStar Zamboanga)
