THE Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has turned over a check of P4.13 million to augment the Zamboanga City Government’s fund for medical assistance to indigents.

PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles personally handed over the ceremonial check representing the city's P4.13 million share from the PCSO to Mayor John Dalipe and City Treasurer Romelita Candido.

The ceremonial turnover was done during Robles' courtesy visit to Dalipe at City Hall on Monday, February 13.

Dalipe said the P4.13 million represents the city's share from PCSO lottery games in 2022 and part of January 2023.

“The city’s share will help augment the local government’s fund for medical assistance to indigents,” Dalipe said.

Under the law, the PCSO is mandated to set aside 30 percent of its net receipts from its lotto operations as a Lotto Charity Fund, of which five percent is granted in favor of the local government units where lotto tickets are sold.

PCSO-Zamboanga branch head Pilarcita Florentes and staff joined Robles during the courtesy visit to Dalipe at City Hall. (SunStar Zamboanga)
