Police arrest 7 wanted persons in Zamboanga Peninsula

SEVEN wanted persons, including one listed as top 9 most wanted person, were arrested in separate law enforcement operations here in the Zamboanga Peninsula, the police reported on Tuesday, August 15, 2023.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said Alip Pondosan, 36, the top 9 most wanted person in the province of Zamboanga del Norte was arrested in Calumpang, Marikina City on Monday, August 14.

Galvez said Pondosan, a native of Anongan village, Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte, has pending warrant of arrest for the crime of rape with no recommended bail issued by a court of Siocon on September 26, 2019.

Galvez identified the other arrested wanted persons as the following: Jean Phil Alvarado Jalosjos, 34; Lydia Langa Albano, 32; Elmer Bularon Bayno, 37; Jesus Ferrer Del Rosario, 32; Junmar Ramirez Lapuag, 25; and, Malil Taman Diki, 46. They were arrested separately on Tuesday, August 14.

Jalosjos, who is facing charges for violation of Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, was arrested in Dawo village, Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.

The court has set a bail of P10,000 for Jalosjos’ temporary liberty while his case is being heard.

Albano, who is charged for the crime of deceits with P3,000 recommended bail, was arrested in Purok Luz, Ipil Heights, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Policemen arrested Bayno at Purok Mangosteen in Culabay village, Tabina, Zamboanga del Sur.

Bayno has standing warrant of arrest with P72,000 recommended bail issued by a court in Alabel, Sarangani on March 9, 2023.

Del Rosario was arrested by policemen in Lunzuran village, Zamboanga City for violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004". A P6,000 bail has been set for his temporary liberty issued a court of Zamboanga City on August 8, 2023.

Galvez said that Lapuag, a construction worker, was arrested in a church in Concepcion uno village, Marikina City.

Lapuag has pending warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act with no recommended bail issued by a court in Pagadian City, dated July 13, 2020.

Meanwhile, policemen have served a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act against Diki, who is currently serving sentence at the Zamboanga City Jail along Dr. Valera Street in Zone I village.

The court in its warrant of arrest against Diki issued on July 31, 2023 has set a bail of P120,000.

Based on data provided by the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division, the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula has arrested a total of 224 most wanted persons and a total of 1,158 other wanted persons from January 1 to July 31, 2023.

Police Brigadier General Neil Alinsañgan, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, commended the operatives for the continuous conduct of relentless operations against wanted persons in the region.

He said it is in adherence to the aggressive and honest law enforcement operations agenda of the Police General Benjamin Acorda, Jr, PNP chief, and the result of PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula’s effort in the realization of its vision of providing the people of the region a safer place to live, work, and do business.(SunStar Zamboanga)
