A KIDNAP-for-ransom-group member listed as one of the most wanted persons in Zamboanga Sibugay province was arrested by authorities in a manhunt operation, the police reported Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
Police Colonel Eduard Mallo, Zamboanga Sibugay police director, identified the arrested KFRG member as Galib Alam, 42, a resident of Magdaup village in Ipil town, the capital of the province.
Mallo said that Alam was arrested in a manhunt operation by joint police and military operatives in Taglibas village, Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay on Monday, July 10.
Mallo said Alam has standing warrant of arrest for the crime of murder with no recommended bail issued by a court in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay dated February 17, 2023.
Alam is listed as the number four most wanted person in the municipality of Ipil, according to Mallo.
He said Alam is a follower of Abral Abdusalam, a leader of a crime group involved in kidnapping, extortion, gun-for-hire, and other atrocities in Zamboanga Sibugay and nearby areas.
Abdusalam, 41, was arrested in a warrant of arrest operation by a joint team of police and soldiers on June 30 in Barangay Lower Baluran, Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Alam was placed under the custody of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Zamboanga Sibugay field office.(SunStar Zamboanga)
