A POLICEWOMAN died while four others were injured in a vehicular accident in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Friday, April 8, 2022.
The Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula reported that the incident happened around 3:27 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022, in Santo Niño village, Tampilisan, Zamboanga Del Norte.
The police identified the fatality as Police Patrolwoman Florilyn Balansag, 29, who was rushed to the Liloy Integrated Health District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Wounded were the following: Police Patrolman Ray Francisco, 30; Police Staff Sergeant Eric Panangitan, 37; Police Patrolwoman Princess Ann Adaza, 25; and, Police Patrolwoman Cherrie Ann Armoganda, 29.
Investigation disclosed that the victims were aboard a patrol vehicle that swerved to the right side of the road and crashed on a tree after its driver, Francisco lost control of the steering wheel.
They were traveling to Dipolog City from Zamboanga City to augment the security in Zamboanga del Norte for the May 9 elections.
Francisco and the rest of the passenger were hospitalized for treatment. (SunStar Zamboanga)
