Policewoman shot dead in Zamboanga City

A POLICEWOMAN died and her companion was wounded after they were shot by gunmen riding on a motorcycle Thursday night in Zamboanga City.

Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the fatality as Police Officer 1 (PO1) Rosalyn Macapili, 33, who was assigned with the Police Station 7 of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO). Macapili was previously assigned with the Station’s Drug Enforcement Team (SDET).

Lineth Tuballa, who is living together with Macapili, was admitted at the hospital for treatment.

Galvez said the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday at Star Apple Drive in the village of Baliwasan.

Police investigation showed that Macapili and Tuballa were shot after they went outside their house to check who hurled a stone on their roof.

Macapili, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, failed to reach the hospital alive.

Galvez said investigation is ongoing to identify Macapili’s killers.
