A NINE-MONTH-OLD pregnant New People’s Army (NPA) amazon has surrendered to military authorities in the province of Lanao del Sur, a top military official said Friday, August 4, 2023.
Major General Antonio Nafarrete, 1st Infantry Division (ID) commander, identified only the NPA amazon surrendered as Ka Janella.
Nafarrete said that Janella surrendered to the 103rd Infantry Brigade through the efforts of the 55th Infantry Battalion and intelligence units in Lanao del Sur on Wednesday.
He said Janella is a squad medic of Platoon Mercedes under the Sub-Regional Committee 5 of the NPA’s North Central Mindanao Regional Committee.
Janella revealed that she decided to surrender due to the extreme hardships brought about by the relentless military offensive against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
