A SEPTUAGENARIAN died while a construction worker was unscathed in a collision of two motorcycles along the national highway of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Monday, February 27, 2023.
Police Colonel Glenn Dulawan, Zamboanga del Norte police director, identified the fatality as Quirico Dumpa, 75. Unscathed was Jonathan Silacan, 26.
Dulawan said the incident happened around 3:50 p.m. Sunday, February 26, in Biayon village, Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte.
Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, both Dumpa and Silacan were driving motorcycles and traveling in the same direction.
However, the two motorcycles collided when Silacan tried to overtake Dumpa who turned left while running a low speed.
Dumpa sustained head injuries after he crashed on a pavement and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The attending physician declared Dumpa dead on arrival at the hospital. (SunStar Zamboanga)
