A TOTAL of 200 assorted seedlings were planted in joint military and police tree growing activity in the province of Sulu, the 11th Infantry Division (ID) reported Monday, September 4.

The 11ID said in a statement that the tree growing activity was held on Saturday, September 2, in Seit Lake village, Panamao, Sulu.

The 11ID said the trees that were planted include Narra, Molave, and Mahogany species.

The tree growing activity is part of the Army's continuing commitment to environmental protection in connection with the government’s National Greening Program.

The Philippine Army and the Department of Agriculture signed a memorandum of a partnership agreement earlier this year that commenced the “Raising of One Million Trees” Project.

The agreement aimed to foster a collaborative effort to plant one million trees during incumbency of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (SunStar Zamboanga)
