State of the City Address all set on January 14

ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has met with the department heads of the City Government in preparation for her seventh State of the City Address (Soca) on January 14.

Salazar said the meeting is necessary to gather inputs for her annual address to members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod during their maiden session of the year.

She added that the inputs would include each department’s achievements during the past year and its plans and programs for the year to come.

The mayor said these will be collated to form part of her report.

The Soca has been a tradition that started during the incumbency of the late mayor Maria Clara Lobregat, in which the chief executive will report to the local legislature on her administration’s achievements during the past year, plans and programs for the coming years.

Primarily, the Soca provides the chief executive the opportunity to personally seek local legislators’ individual and collective support to her agenda, especially the passage of priority ordinances that would push forward her administration’s plans, programs and activities in the coming years.

In her 2018 Soca, Salazar spoke about a resilient Zamboanga City, having been built better and recovered from the infamous siege that took place barely 71 days after she assume office in 2013. (SunStar Zamboanga)
