'Tabak' honors Cafgu Active Auxiliary

ZAMBOANGA. THE militia forces have been advised to work as a team in helping sustain the peace in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

This is the call of Major General Generoso Ponio, 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division (1ID) commander, as the command celebrated last week the 33rd Cafgu Active Auxiliary (CAA) Day in Camp Cesar Sang-an in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

Ponio told the members of the militia forces that “there is peace and progress in our in our area of responsibility because of your untiring efforts and involvement in accomplishing the task of our units in the ground.”

“Let’s work as a team and uphold the standard of discipline in order to sustain the gains of peace and prosperity of Western Mindanao,” Ponio added.

Ponio said that the militia serves as the stationary security forces of a particular area while soldiers come and go brought about by the rotation of forces.

The 33rd CAA Day was highlighted with awarding of Best CAAs per Infantry and Mechanized Brigade and including the Task Force administered and operationally controlled by the command.

Ponio said the awardees were: CAA Abraham Ahmad and CAA Melecio Candis, 102nd Infantry Brigade; CAA Mohammad Malang, 103rd Infantry Brigade; CAA Rommel Montibon, 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade; and, CAA Roland Hipolito, Task Force Zamboanga.

He said the CAA Companies were also feted during the activity and the awarded companies were: 19th Basilan CAA Company of the 101st Infantry Brigade; 12th Zamboanga del Norte CAA Company of 102nd Infantry Brigade; 14th Lanao del Sur CAA Company of 103rd Infantry Brigade; 7th Lanao del Norte CAA Company of 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade; and, 6th Zamboanga City CAA Company of Task Force Zamboanga.

Ponio has thanked the CAAs for their support and contribution to the attainment of the mission of 1ID. (SunStar Zamboanga)
