COMBINED forces of the military and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) have recovered two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and bomb components in a clearing operation in the province of Maguindanao, officials said Wednesday, April 15.

Major General Diosdado Carreon, Joint Task Force Central commander, said the two IEDs and several bomb-making components were recovered around 4 a.m. Monday, April 13, in Sitios Dungguan and Dama Kayo in Kalumamis village, Guindulungan, Maguindanao.

Carreon said the troops of the Army's 7th Infantry Battalion brought the IED to the battalion's tactical command post and coordinated with the Explosive Ordnance Battalion for proper identification, evaluation, and disposal of the recovered explosives.

Carreon said they will continue to secure the area against lawless groups amid the enhanced community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) crisis.

"Security forces keep guard against hostile groups who may threaten and take advantage of the situation to disrupt the security in the area," said Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom).

"We sustain security operations as measures to preempt terror ploys and neutralize implements of hostilities in the area," Sobejana added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
