FIRST district Congressman Celso Lobregat has reminded the voters not to be persuaded by vote-buying scheme of some candidates for the Barangay (village) and Sangguniang Kabataan (youth council) elections.

Lobregat made the reminder as reports reached his office that some of the aspirants for barangay elections are allegedly promising certain amount of money to voters in exchange for the votes of their family and relatives.

“They should not sell their vote to those candidates who look at them as a commodity,” Lobregat added as he urged the voters to maintain the sanctity of their votes.

He said that vote-buying happens and cannot be avoided in any conduct of electoral process but it depends on the voters whether they will tolerate it or not. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
