Warriors’ fan stabs dead Cavs enthusiast

ONE person died while another was wounded as the verbal tussle between relatives over the National Basketball Association (NBA) championship games turned violent.

The Police Station 7 reported the incident happened at 10:31 p.m. Thursday at Sitio Talungon in San Roque village, this city.

On Thursday, the Golden State Warriors won over the Cleveland Cavaliers with a score 110-102. It was the third straight win of the Warriors in the best of seven series.

The police identified the fatality as Henry Macapili, 28, who was rushed but failed to reach the hospital alive.

Wounded was Renevie Rose Macapili, 18. She was hospitalized.

They were allegedly stabbed by Marvic Macotocruz, 25, who was arrested and detained at the Police Station 7.

Investigation showed that before the incident, the suspect and the victims were having a drinking spree together with friends while discussing about the NBA championship games seeing action the Warriors and the Cavaliers.

The police said a fistfight ensued when Macapili, an avid fan of the Cavaliers, suddenly punched Macotocruz, in the midst of a verbal tussle.

The police said that Macotocruz, a fan of the Warriors, pulled a knife and fatally stabbed Macapili.

Renevie sustained stab wounds as she was accidentally hit while pacifying her two cousins, the police added. (SunStar Philippines)
