Wesmincom neutralizes 84 Abu Sayyaf bandits

THE military’s Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) has achieve significant gains in the campaign against the dreaded Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).

Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez, Jr., Wesmincom chief, said that a total of 84 members of the ASG have neutralized since January 1 until April 1, this year.

Galvez said that 60 of the 84 ASG members have surrendered while 13 were arrested and 11 killed in separately clashes with government troops.

Galvez said the 11 ASG members were killed in eight firefights initiated by the troops since January 1 this year.

He said among the 60 ASG members who surrendered included Basilan-based ASG leader Nurhassan Jamiri and his 13 followers.
