ZAMBOANGA City Mayor John Dalipe cited the senior citizens for their wisdom and resiliency that serve as the guiding light of the younger generation.

Dalipe made the citation as he expressed profound gratitude to the senior citizens for their significant contributions to the city and nation building.

On Tuesday, September 5, 2023, Dalipe grace the Citywide Mid-year Program Review and Evaluation Workshop (PREW) organized by the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) under the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

“May this midyear assembly serve as a platform for fruitful discussions, valuable insights, and strengthen bonds within our community. Together, let us cherish, honor, and support our Senior Citizens as we walk towards the Zamboanga City that truly embodies the spirit of unity, respect, and gratitude,” he added.

The mayor vowed to continue to uphold his commitment to undertake projects and programs intended to meet the continuing needs of the elderlies.

These initiatives include the grant of P1,000 cash incentive per quarter to each and every resident aged 60 years old and above and other benefit packages for senior citizens.

Meanwhile, Dalipe commended the OSCA and CSWDO for continuously looking after the well-being and rights of senior citizens.

The senior citizens’ assembly is an annual activity conducted to review, assess and evaluate programs, projects and services to determine the extent of their implementation and impact.

The participants had the opportunity to air issues and concerns related to health, Philhealth guidelines and financial assistance among others.

The highlight of the day-long activity was the midyear gallery presentation where each of the seven field offices showcased their achievements.(SunStar Zamboanga)
