SIX members of the Zamboanga City Taekwondo team captured medals in their individual categories during the 46th National Taekwondo Championships.
Dr. Cecile Atilano, City Sports Development Officer, said in a statement Monday, July 24, that the Taekwondo championships was held from Saturday, July 22, until Sunday, July 23, at the Mall of Asia, Pasay City.
The medal haulers are the following: Jorish Yumn Salunoy – silver (Light Middleweight); Cedie Selencio – bronze (Feather Weight); Tristan Landrey Carpio – bronze (Bantam Weight); Sam Janmuel Wee – silver (Light-Middle Weight); Axcel Inot – bronze (Light-Middle Weight) and Namshur Pingli – bronze (Fin Weight).
Mayor John Dalipe dropped by the contest venue on Sunday, July 23, and personally congratulated and gave words of encouragement to the Zamboangueño athletes.
Jojo Dalipe, the chief of staff and brother of second district Congressman Jose Manuel Dalipe and Mayor Dalipe, accompanied the mayor during the visit to the contest venue.
Atilano said the medal haulers have brought honor to the city of Zamboanga in the world of sports. (SunStar Zamboanga)
