CDRRMO eyes drone for security, disaster response

THE City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) is set to purchase a military-type drone to be used in disaster response and maintenance of security in Zamboanga City.

The City Council approved on June 5 a resolution allocating an initial amount of P500,000 to purchase the drone.

The resolution was approved during the regular session following a dialogue with Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, CDRRM officer.

Apolinario said the drone will be also used in traffic management aside from security and disaster response.

He said they need a military-type drone, which is bigger and uses the latest technology, adding that it also has longer flying hours. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
