THE City Government has turned over personal protective equipment (PPE) for health workers to the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) and Lantaka isolation and management facility.
The out-patient department (OPD) of ZCMC has been converted into a coronavirus disease (Covid-19) referral facility while the former Lantaka Hotel by the Sea is being used as isolation and management facility of persons under monitoring (PUM) for the dreaded disease.
The PPE Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar turned over to Department of Health (DOH) and ZCMC concurrent Chief of Hospital Emilia Monicimpo included gowns, N95 masks, goggles, gloves, coverall, boots and boots cover, among others.
The PPEs were donated earlier this week to the City Government by the people of GuiGang City, GuangXi province, People's Republic of China. Zamboanga and GuiGang are sister cities.
As part of its protocol, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), led by Regional Director Annette Tan, has inspected the donations received by the city government.
The FDA is an agency under the DOH mandated "to ensure safety and good quality processed food, drugs and cosmetics and to regulate the production, sale and traffic of the same to protect the health of the people." (SunStar Zamboanga)
