Mayor warns vs shadow government at public market

MAYOR Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has warned that charges will be filled against those behind the so-called "shadow government" at the main public market downtown.

"There should not be any shadow government because it should only be the City Government that is authorized to manage the public market," Salazar said.

The mayor issued the warning in response to reports about the existence of a shadow government in the public market.

Salazar said only the City Treasurer's Office or its duly authorized personnel are allowed to collect fees from the market stall owners.

She said any complaints regarding the matter should be filed at the City Administrator's Office so that the necessary charges can be formally filed against those misrepresenting the City Government.

This came on the heels of reports that a number of stall owners at the public market are already confused, claiming that they are frequented by the so-called authorized collectors. (SunStar Zamboanga)
