Zamboanga lawmaker named new regional DOT chief

FIRST district Representative Celso Lobregat on Friday, August 3, extended his utmost congratulations to District 1 Councilor Myra Paz Valderrosa-Abubakar for having been appointed as the new Department of Tourism (DOT) regional director.

President Rodrigo Duterte has signed the appointment of Abubakar as DOT director IV last July 30, 2018 replacing Antonio Fernando Blanco.

Lobregat said that since day one, the President has already pinpointed Abubakar and asked her to work in his administration, “but certain considerations were made because Abubakar is an incumbent city councilor and she has to serve her term and constituents as well.”

“Myra has performed will and delivered beyond expectations, that’s why she was elected by the people until her last term, no wonder, the President will get her because she is a good material to help the fulfill the thrusts of the present administration, she really belongs in the tourism industry,” Lobregat said.

Lobregat said, as a party-mate of Abubakar since her first term of office as a public servant, he knows that she will be an asset to the Duterte administration with her new appointment.

The lawmaker wished Abubakar all the luck and to continue her exemplary performance as a city councilor, a tourism and women advocate, and a true public servant in her present position in the national government. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
