Sibugay guv re-elected into 3rd term of office

ZAMBOANGA Sibugay Governor Wilter Yap Palma expressed his gratitude to the electorates of that province for the trust given him to serve on his third term of office.

The Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBC) on Wednesday, May 15, proclaimed Palma as the winner in the May 13 mid-term elections’ gubernatorial race in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Palma garnered 139,130 votes or 51.85 percent of the total votes’ cast and won with a lead margin of 11,904 against his George Hofer II with 127,226 or 47.42 percent of the votes’ cast.

The PBC proclaimed Wednesday Palma's son, incumbent Congressman Wilter “Sharky” Palma II, as the winner in the first district congressional race of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Sharky, who was reelected on his second term of office, garnered 61,302 votes while his opponent, Apple Yambao, got 48,744 votes.

The PBC also proclaimed on the same day the winners in the five-seat provincial board in the first district of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Congresswoman Dulce Ann Hofer, was proclaimed winner on Tuesday, May 14, in the congressional race in the second district of Zamboanga Sibugay. She will serve on her third term of office.

Also proclaimed Tuesday were the winners of the five-seat provincial board in the second district of the province. (SunStar Philippines)
