A TOTAL of 44 personnel of the 1102nd Infantry Brigade (1102Bde) benefited from the comprehensive medical services provided by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Luuk, Sulu, the military said Sunday, August 23, 2026.
The LGU of Luuk initiated the activity as it recognizes that personnel are the greatest assets of any military organization.
The 1102Bde said the medical outreach activity was held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Camp AKA that houses the headquarters of the Brigade in Bual village, Luuk, Sulu.
The 1102Bde said the activity included medical consultations, physical examinations, vital signs monitoring, medical history assessment, and laboratory examinations such as complete blood count (CBC), urinalysis, fasting blood sugar (FBS), and serum creatinine.
Prenatal checkups were likewise made available to pregnant personnel.
The 1102Bde said that personnel identified with health concerns were provided appropriate medical advice and referred for further evaluation or treatment when necessary.
The health team also informed the troops of other services available through the Luuk Rural Health Unit (RHU), including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) screening, syphilis testing, blood typing, dengue testing, pregnancy testing, family planning, TB-DOTS, laboratory services, mental health programs, smoking cessation, and interventions addressing binge alcohol drinking.
Brigadier General Alaric Avelino Delos Santos, 1102Bde commander, expressed his gratitude to Mayor Al-Makram Arbison and the LGU of Luuk for extending essential health services to Brigade personnel.
“Our personnel are the greatest assets of our organization. Their health and well-being directly contribute to our readiness and our ability to accomplish our mission,” Delos Santos said in a statement.
“We are deeply grateful to Mayor Arbison and the entire LGU of Luuk for looking after our soldiers and for being a steadfast partner not only in peace and security, but also in promoting the welfare of our troops,” Delos Santos added.
He emphasized that caring for soldiers goes beyond maintaining their physical fitness, as their mental and overall well-being are equally important in ensuring that they remain capable, resilient, and mission-ready.
The comprehensive medical services was undertaken through the Luuk Municipal Health Office (MHO) and RHU as part of the LGU’s continuing support to the health, welfare, and operational readiness of troops stationed in the municipality.
The medical team was led by Dr. Lucky Patrick Lopez, OIC of MHO/RHU, together with Registered Nurse Surina Said, who handled prenatal services; Almunier Yusop, Laboratory Technician; Registered Nurse Mohammad Igbar Sajirin, for smoking cessation and binge alcohol drinking intervention; Whalda Husin, for the TB-DOTS and Mental Health Programs; and Jarmaida Halik, for family planning services.
