LAWMEN have arrested a cultivator and destroyed some P900,000 worth of marijuana plants during a law enforcement operation in Lanao del Sur, police said Friday, June 20, 2025.
Police Colonel Caezar Cabuhat, newly installed Lanao del Sur police director, identified the arrested cultivator as alias Rupug.
Cabuhat said Rupug was arrested during a joint anti-illegal drug operation at a remote plantation Thursday, June 19, in Sultan Dumalondong, Lanao del Sur.
Rupug and his companions were found sleeping within the plantation when the raiding team arrived. The identities of his companions were not immediately available.
The plantation covered approximately 2,000 square meters, with around 5,000 fully grown marijuana plants, estimated to be worth P900,000, uprooted.
“The plantation area was sprayed with herbicide, and the uprooted plants were subsequently destroyed by burning,” Cabuhat said.
He said the operation marked a significant step in the province’s ongoing anti-drug campaign. (SunStar Zamboanga)
