THE Ministry of Human Settlement and Development in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MHSD-BARMM) is constructing two new training centers in Sulu, which are expected to significantly benefit the youth in the province.

The implementation of the two projects falls under the supervision of the MHSD-Sulu provincial officer and is funded by the Transition Development Impact Fund (TDIF) of Lawyer Jose Lorena, a member of the BARMM Parliament.

The first center, a multi-purpose one-story building, will be constructed at the Boy Scout Santanina Sports Complex in San Raymundo village, Jolo, the capital town of Sulu.

The second center, a one-story youth training and management facility, will be located in Kahawa village, Talipao.

“We hope this project will be completed as soon as the others, thanks to the Ministry of Human Settlement and Development's oversight,” Lorena said in a statement.

“We've already successfully established two similar training centers—one at Sulu State College and another at Mindanao State University,” he added.

Lawyer Najira Hassan, MHSD-Sulu provincial director, emphasized the importance of timely and complete project implementation.

“We will do our utmost to complete the project as soon as possible. All projects should be turned over and utilized so that the money and effort of those who provide us with these projects are not wasted,” Hassan said.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, marking the start of construction for the two new training centers in two Sulu towns. (SunStar Zamboanga)
