THE Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT)-Basilan has trained 100 provincial personnel to enhance public service standards and support the growing tourism industry of the province, an official said Monday, August 24, 2026.
Jaida Tulawie, MTIT-Basilan chief, said the training was held on Thursday, August 20, at the Basilan Government Center in Sta. Clara, Lamitan City.
The participants of the training were introduced to the Department of Tourism’s 7Ms of the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE).
Tulawie said the initiative aimed to equip local government workers with stronger hospitality skills and a deeper sense of professionalism.
Tulawie stressed that service quality serves as a vital driver of community empowerment, economic progress, and cultural pride as Basilan grows as a destination for trade and investment.
“The Filipino Brand of Service Excellence equips our team with a unified mindset, shared values, and practical service standards rooted in our Filipino identity—warmth, respect, integrity, and genuine care,” Tulawie said in a statement.
“Service excellence is not the duty of one department, but our collective responsibility,” she added.
She said the training seeks to establish the Basilan Provincial Government as a model of excellence, promoting economic and tourism growth while embodying traditional Filipino and Bangsamoro hospitality.
Meanwhile, Emily Trumata, acting Provincial Human Resource officer and Protocol head, said the training is essential for improving guest and client service.
Trumata expressed her gratitude to MTIT-Basilan for its ongoing partnership in enhancing the skills of provincial employees. (SunStar Zamboanga)
