Olaso, Climaco win Zamboanga City’s top 2 seats

FIRST District Representative Khymer Adan Olaso won the mayoral race, while his running mate, former mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco, secured the vice mayor post, garnering more than 160,000 and 210,000 votes, respectively.

Olaso will replace Mayor John Dalipe, who ran for representative, but lost, in the Second District.

Mayor Dalipe’s elder brother, Jose Manuel, lost in the mayoral race to Olaso. Jose Manuel garnered more than 120,000 votes.

Mayor Dalipe, who garnered over 60,000 votes, lost to Putik village chief Jerry Perez, who garnered more than 95,000 votes.

In the Second District, newcomer Kat Chua won the race, garnering over 54,000 as against her closest rival, Vice Mayor Josephine Parena, who garnered more than 53,000 votes.

Chua is the wife of Joeben Tai, national housing authority general manager.

Elected to the City Council from District 1 were Melchor Sadain, Joselito Macrohon, Dante Vicente, Joel Esteban, Vladimir Jimenez, El King Omaga, Elbert Atilano, and Gian Enriquez.

Winning councilors in District 2 were James Siason, Benjamin Guingona, Jihan Edding, Kim Villaflores, Junie Navarro, Hannah Nuňo, Fred Atilano, and Rey Bayoging. (SunStar Zamboanga)
