P20.4-M shabu seized, HVI arrested in Zamboanga City

AUTHORITIES have seized around P20.4 million worth of illegal drugs as they arrested a drug suspect tagged as a high value individual (HVI) in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, police said Sunday, June 29, 2025.

Police Colonel Diomarie Albarico, PNP Drug Enforcement Group's Special Operation Unit chief, said the suspect, Nelson Lamon, 41, was arrested in a buy-bust at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, June 29, in General Vicente Alvarez Street, Barangay Zone 4, Zamboanga City.

Lamon was nabbed after receiving an ecological bag containing 23 bundles of boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 marked money in exchange for the package containing shabu that was handed to an undercover policeman.

Seized from the suspect were three kilos of shabu worth P20.4 million, and a mobile phone.

The suspect was detained at Zamboanga City Police Station 11 pending the filing of charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The confiscation of the P20.4 million worth of shabu is the biggest drug haul of the authorities for the month of June in Zamboanga City. (SunStar Zamboanga)
