THE Municipality of Patikul, Sulu and the 1103rd Infantry Brigade (1103Bde) conducted the first-ever Level 1 Incident Command System (ICS) Training, bolstering the readiness and coordination of all stakeholders.
The training, which started Monday, June 23, and ended Wednesday, June 25, was held at De Mazenod Function Hall in San Raymundo village, Jolo, Sulu. It was a unified step toward building a safer and more disaster-resilient community.
"This is not just a training; it is an investment in the safety and future of Patikul," Mayor Kabir Hayudini said.
"Through the collective efforts of our civilian and uniformed sectors, we are building a more prepared and resilient Patikul," Hayudini added.
The ICS Training bolstered the readiness and coordination of the Patikul Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC) by enhancing the knowledge and operational skills of local government agencies, uniformed personnel, and other key stakeholders in managing emergency incidents.
The 1103Bde said the training reinforced the community's capacity to respond swiftly, efficiently, and in a unified manner as disaster risks continue to rise due to climate change and other factors.
It also reinforced the significance of a unified command system and streamlined communication across sectors.
The three-day training included lectures, group discussions, and simulations that prepared the participants to take on roles and responsibilities during actual disaster operations.
Major General Leonardo Pe a, 11th Infantry Division (11ID) commander and the keynote speaker, underscored the importance of the ICS training in imparting knowledge to the participants their crucial responsibilities in times of emergency.
The conduct of the training was a joint effort between Patikul municipal government and the 1103Bde of the 11ID.
It was made possible through the support of the Office of Civil Defense-Zamboanga Peninisula, Department of Health, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslin Mindanao. (SunStar Zamboanga)
