PBA legends basketball showdown set on August 10 in Zamboanga City

FIVE Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) legends are coming to Zamboanga City for a basketball showdown and charity game for the benefit of the local Women Crisis Center.

City Administrator Percival Ramos said the charity game is set to be held on Sunday, August 10, at the Mayor Vitaliano Agan Coliseum in Tetuan village, Zamboanga City.

Dubbed as PBA Legends Basketball Showdown, the event will feature the basketball favorites of the '90s -- the Flying A Johnny Abarrientos, the Tank Noli Locsin, the Bull Nelson Asaytono, the triggerman Alan Caidic, and the Captain Alvin Patrimonio.

Ramos, upon instructions of Mayor Khymer Olaso convened a meeting on Tuesday, August 5, with the organizer B-Steel Sports represented by Oliver Malinao, the Zamboanga City Police Office, City Traffic Enforcement Unit, Executive Assistant for Traffic Management Edwin de Ocampo, Bureau of Fire Protection, and concerned city offices to finalize details for the big event.

Ramos said the team of Olaso won in the Exhibition Game last August 3 will be pitted against the PBA Legends.

The game will start at 7:30 p.m. with a pre-game at 6 p.m.

The basketball showdown will be a charity game for the benefit of the Women Crisis Center, a city-owned facility located at Sta. Barbara village. (SunStar Zamboanga)
