AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) have arrested a tricycle driver and seized around P1.3 million worth of illegal drugs in an anti-drug operation on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Zamboanga City, an official said.

Maharani Gadaoni-Tosoc, PDEA-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested driver as Ronald Doble, 45, a resident of Mampang village, Zamboanga City.

Gadaoni-Tosoc said Doble was arrested around 11:43 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, on Villalobos Street in Zone 4 village, Zamboanga City.

Gadaoni-Tosoc said Doble was arrested after he sold a sachet containing 50 grams of shabu worth P340,000 to an undercover PDEA agent.

She said the arresting team recovered from Doble's possession three more plastic sachets containing around 150 grams of shabu valued at P1.02 million, bringing the total confiscated drugs to P1,360,000.

The operatives also seized a bundle of P1,000 boodle money topped with one genuine P500 marked money, a tricycle and a plastic bag.

The suspect was detained and will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, for drug sale and possession.

Gadaoni-Tosoc said the anti-drug operation, led by PDEA Zamboanga City Office, is part of the agency's intensified efforts to curb illegal drug activities in the region. (SunStar Zamboanga)
