AUTHORITIES arrested one individual and confiscated approximately P6.8 million worth of illegal drugs in an anti-drug operation in Sulu province, an official announced Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Gil Cesario Castro, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) director, identified the arrested suspect as alias Bads, 37, a resident of Luuk Tulay village, Pata, Sulu.
Castro stated that Bads was apprehended during a buy-bust operation on Monday, May 19, along Serentes Street, Chinese Pier village, Jolo, Sulu's capital.
Seized from Bads' possession was one kilo of suspected shabu in a heat-sealed transparent plastic bag, along with P6.8 million in buy-bust money and a mobile phone, according to Castro.
The PDEA-Sulu Provincial Office, with support from police, soldiers, and the Philippine Coast Guard, conducted the successful operation.
"The collaborative effort among law enforcement agencies continues to play a critical role in ensuring peace and order in the Bangsamoro region," Castro said.
He added that Bads is being held at the Jolo Municipal Police station while charges for violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared. (SunStar Zamboanga)
