THE Zamboanga City Government, through the Public Employment Service Office (Peso), has launched on Monday, May 26, a program to assist jobseekers, particularly first-time applicants, to overcome basic documentation hurdles in applying for job.

The program, known as Gabay sa Ayos na Work Application (Gawa), is the initiative of Peso’s Labor Market Information (LMI).

Peso Manager Juniebe Manganohoy said Gawa is aimed to support jobseekers, especially those from low-income families, by offering essential employment-related services.

These include guided resume writing, free resume printing, free photocopying of job-related documents and free identification (ID)-picture taking.

“All services are provided at no cost to help to ease the burden on applicants as they pursue job opportunities,” Manganohoy said.

He said that among the key beneficiaries of the program are first time jobseekers, out-of-school youth, senior high school and college graduates, displaced workers and career shifters.

He said the goal of Gawa is to improve their job readiness and access to employment opportunities.

The program is conducted at the Peso office located at Sunken Garden, J.S.Alano Street, Zone IV village, Zamboanga City, and is available every working day during office hours. (SunStar Zamboanga)
