AUTHORITIES scored anew in the campaign against illegal drugs as they arrested two high-value individuals (HVIs) and seized some P3.4 million worth of suspected shabu in Zamboanga City, an official said Sunday, August 17, 2025.
Police Colonel Narciso Paragas, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula assistant director for operations, said the suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 6:22 p.m. Saturday in Purok 4, Cabatangan village, Zamboanga City.
Paragas identified the two suspects through their aliases as Algisno, 34, and Bossing, 36, both residents of Country Homes Subdivision, Ayala village, Zamboanga City.
“Recovered during the anti-drug operation were two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu with a weight of 500 grams worth P3.4 million,” Paragas said.
Also recovered from the suspects were two bundles of 299 pieces of counterfeit P1,000 bills topped with one genuine P1,000 marked bill used as buy-bust money, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle used in the delivery of illegal drugs.
Paragas said the suspects are detained at the Zamboanga City Police Office detention facility pending the filing of charges against them. They will also be subjected to a drug test.
The arrest of the two suspects and the confiscation of P3.4 million worth of suspected shabu came a day after policemen arrested two HVIs and seized some P13.6 million worth of illegal drugs in Baliwasan village, Zamboanga City.
The two HVIs were arrested, also in a buy-bust operation, around 10:30 p.m. Friday, August 15, near a laundry shop.
A cohort of the two managed to escape and is the subject of a follow-up operation.
Paragas said they will continue to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs in Zamboanga City and in the Zamboanga Peninsula. (SunStar Zamboanga)
