
AUTHORITIES have arrested the suspect behind a shooting incident, barely 12 hours later, during a pursuit operation in Basilan province, the police said on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Elmer Solon, Lamitan City police chief, identified the arrested suspect as Fidel Pamaran Toledo, alias Siloy, 46.
Solon said Toledo was arrested at around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, in Tipo-Tipo Proper village, Tipo-Tipo, Basilan province.
Solon stated that Toledo was allegedly responsible for the shooting incident that occurred around 7 p.m. on Monday, March 10, which left Victor Francisco Toledo, 44, a farmer, injured.
Investigations revealed that the victim was walking along the road in Purok 8, Colonia village, Lamitan City, when the suspect appeared and shot him.
The victim was admitted to the hospital for treatment, while the suspect immediately fled the scene.
Solon confirmed that a .45 caliber pistol with one magazine and six bullets was seized from the suspect at the time of his arrest.
He added that the suspect is currently detained at the Lamitan City police headquarters and will be charged with frustrated murder and violation of the election gun ban. (SunStar Zamboanga)
