STAKEHOLDERS from various sectors have participated in the signing of peace covenant and solidarity pact for a peaceful 2025 midterm polls on May 12, 2025, in Zamboanga Sibugay, the military said Friday, March 14, 2025.
The 102nd Infantry Brigade (102Bde) said lawyer Stephen Roy Ca ete, Zamboanga Sibugay provincial election supervisor, presided the event on Tuesday, March 11, bringing together political candidates, advocacy support groups, force multipliers, and key stakeholders in a unified commitment to uphold peace, integrity, and fairness throughout the electoral process.
The event was held at the covered court of the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office in Sanito village, Ipil, the capital of the province.
"The signing of the peace covenant represents a firm pledge among all parties to conduct political campaigns that is free from violence, threats, and electoral misconduct," the 102Bde said in a statement.
Ca ete underscored the significance of the peace covenant in fostering transparent and credible elections.
Ca ete encouraged all participants to uphold the principles of democracy, ensuring that the electoral process remains free from any form of intimidation, manipulation, or violence.
The 102Bde said the signing of the peace covenant and solidarity pact marked a vital milestone in strengthening partnerships among law enforcement agencies, the Commission on Elections, political aspirants, and the community.
It is a reaffirmation of the collective commitment to fair elections, where every vote is cast and counted with utmost credibility and respect for democratic principles, the 102Bde said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
