
A SOFT drinks firm executive was wounded while his driver died in a gun attack in Zamboanga City, the police said Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
Wounded was Che Stalin Rodriguez, general manager of Pepsi plant products in Zamboanga City, while his driver, a certain Jun-Jun, expired while undergoing medical treatment.
Police Colonel Fidel Fortaleza Jr., Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, said the incident happened around 7 p.m. Monday, May 5, in San Isidro Street, Zone 2, Mercedes village, East of Zamboanga City Hall.
Investigation showed the victims, who were aboard a Sports Utility Vehicle, had just arrived home when repeatedly shot by one of two men riding tandem in a motorcycle that tailed them.
Fortaleza said based on information that the triggerman was clad in hooded jacket and baseball cap.
The police recovered seven empty shells of a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene. Investigation continues to establish the motive and identities of the suspects.
Meanwhile, the local police also continue to investigate the killing of a local businessman on Sunday, May 4.
The victim, Walter Tong, was shot and killed by riding-in-tandem gunmen around 9:30 a.m. in Talisayan village, West of Zamboanga City Hall.
Tong, who owns a shipyard, was biking together with his friends when shot by one of two men riding tandem on a motorcycle that sped off after the incident. (SunStar Zamboanga)
