Zamboanga City Government fetes taekwondo medal haulers
ZAMBOANGA City Mayor John Dalipe led the City Government on Monday, August 7, in feting the members of the Zamboanga City Taekwondo delegation that reaped medals during the 2023 MVP Sports Foundation National Taekwondo Championships.
The event was held from July 22 to 23 at the SM Mall of Asia along Seaside Boulevard, Pasay City.
Honored were medal haulers Jorish Yumn Salunoy, silver (Cadet Girls - Light Middleweight); Sam Janmuel Wee, silver (Junior Men – light middleweight); Cedie Selencio, bronze (Cadet boys – Feather weight); Tristan Landrey Carpio, bronze (Cadet Boys – Bantam Weight); Axcel Inot, bronze (Junior Men – light middleweight); and, Namshur Pingli – bronze (Senior Men – fin weight).
Dr. Cecile Atilano, city sports development officer, said the team won a total of two silver medals and four bronze medals.
The Zamboanga City Taekwondo delegation was coached Emmanuel Flores, Robert Flores, Roel Agustin, Jeorge Orinza and Manuel Teves.
Dalipe hailed the athletes for bringing honor and for representing the city in the competition urging them to pursue their interest and continue bringing honor and fame to the Zamboanga City. (SunStar Zamboanga)
