ELEVEN senior citizens have received financial aid and essential food packs in two villages in Isabela City, Basilan as the City Government continues to implement the "Tabang Sa Huyang" program.

The program is an initiative focused on supporting elderly residents who are ill, bedridden, abandoned, or living in difficult circumstances.

Spearheaded by Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, the program is part of Isabela City's broader effort to extend compassion and basic services to marginalized communities.

Nor-Aina Asmara, head of Isabela City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), said the 11 elderly recipients who received the assistance on Tuesday, August 5, are residents of Sumagdang, and San Rafael villages.

"These recipients included seniors battling chronic illnesses, those confined to bed, and others living alone with little or no support," Asmara said.

"For many of them, the visit meant more than just receiving help it was a powerful moment of care, warmth, and acknowledgment. Some shared how they had not interacted with visitors in a long time, and the presence of the CSWDO team brought emotional comfort and relief," she added.

The CSWDO personnel not only delivered goods but also took time to engage with the elderly, check their conditions, and offer words of encouragement and concern.

The implementation of the program underscores the belief that no senior citizen should be left to suffer in silence or isolation.
