Village official wounded in gun attack in Zamboanga City

A VILLAGE official has survived although wounded in a gun attack in an east coast village in Zamboanga City, the police said Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) identified the victim as Ramlie Potoh, 37, a councilor in Calabasa village, 54 kilometers east of Zamboanga City Hall.

The police said the incident took place around 7:15 p.m. Monday, June 23, in Purok 7, Calabasa village.

Investigation showed Potoh was alone inside his residence when he heard series of gun fires outside his home.

The police said that an unidentified gunman shot Potoh, who ran toward his outdoor kitchen.

The suspects fled after committing the crime. Recovered at the crime scene were five empty shells of caliber 5.56 millimeter rifle.

The Zamboanga City Police Station 2 is conducting an in-depth investigation to determine the motive of the incident and identification of suspects. (SunStar Zamboanga)
