THE Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office (ZNPPO) has officially activated the ZNPPO Tourist Police Unit, reaffirming its commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of both local and foreign tourists across the province, an official said Friday, August 7, 2026.
Police Colonel Reydante Ariza, ZNPPO director, said the activation of the Tourist Police Unit on Wednesday, August 5, strengthened the police's tourism security program by deploying trained personnel who will provide police assistance, maintain peace and order in key tourist destinations in Zamboanga del Norte.
“The Tourist Police Unit personnel will also foster stronger collaboration with local government units and tourism stakeholders,” Ariza said in a statement.
The province of Zamboanga del Norte, which comprises of two cities—Dapitan and Dipolog—offers a rich mix of history, nature, and coastal escapes.
The historic and cultural sites of the provinces include the Rizal Shrine in Dapitan City, Sunset Boulevard and Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary in Dipolog City, the capital of the province.
The nature and adventure include the 3,003 concrete steps of Linabo Peak and the multi-tiered hidden jungle Sungkilaw Falls in Dipolog City and the majestic Situbo Falls in Tampilisan town.
The Beaches and Islands are the Dakak Beach, pristine white sand Aliguay Island, and the protection marine sanctuary Selinog island, all located in Dapitan City.
There are also other beautiful tourist destinations in Zamboanga del Norte like Little Siargao in Liloy town, Falls View Camp and La Presa Farm in Sergio Osmeña municipality.
Meanwhile, Ariza said through activation of Tourist Police Unit, they continue to promote a safe, secure, and tourist-friendly environment, contributing to the growth of tourism and reinforcing public confidence in law enforcement services in the province. (SunStar Zamboanga)
