THE construction of the P37-million new school building has been completed, providing a modern and improved facility for the increasing number of students at Don Gregorio Evangelista Memorial School (Don Gems) in Sta. Catalina village, Zamboanga City.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Zamboanga Peninsula said the project is a four-storey, 12-classroom school building with a total floor area of 1,300.32 square meters.

“This new facility helps reduce classroom overcrowding and increases the school’s capacity to accommodate more students, ultimately contributing to an improved quality of education,” the DPWH-Zamboanga Peninsula said.

The building features spacious classrooms and corridors, separate comfort rooms for boys and girls, and ramps for persons with disabilities (PWDs).

It also has two rainwater collection tanks and fire safety equipment, such as alarms, extinguishers, and fire hoses on each floor.

The new school building was constructed by a private contractor under the close supervision of the DPWH-Zamboanga City Second District Office. (SunStar Zamboanga)
