THE Department of Public Works Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of P96.3-million slope protection project, reinforcing the stability of the coastal embankment in Zamboanga del Norte, the agency said Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
The DPWH-Zamboanga Peninsula said the major slope project is located along the Dipolog-Sindangan-Liloy road in the town of Manukan, a third class town in Zamboanga del Norte province.
The DPWH-Zamboanga Peninsula said the project spans a total length of 549.29 linear meters and was funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2024.
"This completed road slope protection structure reinforces the stability of the coastal embankment, effectively preventing erosion and shielding the roadway from strong waves and extreme weather conditions," the DPWH-Zamboanga Peninsula said in a statement.
"The infrastructure not only ensures safer travel but also safeguards nearby communities and enhances the long-term resilience of the local transport network," the DPWH added.
The major slope protection project was undertaken by the DPWH 2nd District Engineering Office in the province of Zamboanga del Norte. (SunStar Zamboanga)
