Zamboanga health office issued advisory on Mpox
THE residents are advised to be vigilant and help prevent the spread of Monkeypox (Mpox) although there is no positive case recorded in Zamboanga City.
The City Health Office has issued the advisory on Monday, May 26, following the recent confirmed positive case—a three-year-old girl—in Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay province.
The CHO personnel conducted contact-tracing and found no symptoms among those who came into closed contact with the girl in Lunzuran village, Zamboanga City before returning to Tungawan.
“Zamboanga City has no confirmed case of Mpox as of this time,” Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, CHO chief, said.
Miravite encouraged everyone to avoid crowded places, practice proper hand hygiene, disinfect frequently touched surfaces, and observe respiratory etiquette by covering our nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing.
She advised anyone who exhibits symptoms of fever, skin rashes and swollen lymph nodes to seek immediate medical attention by visiting the nearest health facility.
Miravite said her office together with other government health offices and facilities in the city have formulated a series of health protocols to ensure the prevention and containment of Mpox and related diseases.
“As part of our response efforts, we will be providing health bulletins to update the public on this latest health concern,” she said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
