
THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula scored anew in its anti-smuggling campaign arresting one person and confiscating some P5.8 million worth of contrabands in the province of Zamboanga del Norte.
Police Brigadier General Roel Rodolfo, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, did not identify the arrested person, a male, arrested around 4 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in Poblacion village, Leon B. Postigo, Zamboanga del Norte.
Rodolfo said seized from the arrested person were 102 master cases of undocumented and smuggled worth P5,844,600.
Rodolfo said the arrested suspect, along with the confiscated contraband, was taken to the Leon B. Postigo Municipal Police Station for documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.
The arrest and confiscation of smuggled cigarettes in Poblacion village, Leon B. Postigo, was the second during the week.
On Tuesday, January 14, two persons aged 29 and 47 were arrested and P7.79 million worth of smuggled cigarettes were seized by policemen in an intelligence-driven anti-smuggling operation.
The confiscated smuggled cigarettes will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.
Rodolfo vowed to continue the crackdown on illegal smuggling activities in Zamboanga Peninsula to ensure the safety and economic security of the community. (SunStar Zamboanga)
