VICE President Jejomar Binay is convinced that President Benigno Aquino III is not involved in the white paper being circulated to implicate his family in the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.

Refuting a report published in the website of radio station dzRH, Binay's spokesperson Joey Salgado stated they never said that it was Malacañang that had been "peddling malicious news" to media outfits.

"We firmly believe that President Aquino has nothing to do with the smear campaign against the Vice President," he said.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. earlier said that the administration is not behind the attempt to discredit Binay, the head of the political opposition eyeing to succeed Aquino in 2016.

The report stated that the vice president, Makati Representative Abigail Binay and her sister, Senator Nancy Binay, had participation in the corruption of PDAF.

"The records of the Vice President, Senator Nancy and myself have been made open to the public for review. These records will show that the projects have been properly implemented and fully liquidated," the Makati lawmaker said.

She added the white paper came from an office in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig and is being funded by "brothers deeply entrenched in politics."

"If the reports on the composition of this group are true, then it saddens me that people whom I considered as friends and colleagues are among those disseminating these lies and half-truths for their own personal agenda," Abigail said, without disclosing the names of those supposedly involved in tarnishing her family's name.

The younger Binay said the group will continue to use "baseless innuendos" and rehashed accusations to condition the minds of the public. (Sunnex)
