Ceneco: No disconnection for 80 kWh consumption

Erwin P. Nicavera

THE Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) has announced that it will implement no disconnection policy for member-consumers with unpaid bills due in March this year provided that the consumption level is at 80 kilowatt hour (kWh) and below.

Ceneco acting general manager and project supervisor Danny Pondevilla, in a statement Tuesday, February 16, said this is in compliance with the Department of Energy (DOE) advisory dated February 5, 2021.

The agency enjoined all distribution utilities nationwide to implement the no disconnection policy for electricity consumers whose consumption levels are within the lifeline rate set by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

Pondevilla said for Ceneco that caters to the largest number of electric consumers in the province, including cities of Bacolod, Bago, Talisay and Silay, and towns of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto, the ERC-approved lifeline rate is 80 kWh.

"Ceneco, however, will continue to implement disconnection to non lifeline consumers," he added.

The acting manager, though, encouraged member-consumers who have the ability to pay to settle their bills within the original due date to help manage the cash flow in the energy supply chain and ensure continuous supply of electricity.

For queries, consumers are also urged to contact Ceneco's customer service hotlines 458-6777 locals 1212, 1304 and 1303.
